BOOK THE KERNEL

Catering and special events are a large part of our business: weddings, block parties, company picnics, graduations, music festivals, anything with people who like being happy. We've popped everywhere from Naperville graduations to Mount Prospect block parties to Chicago street fests. The kettle travels, too: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

You bring the people. We'll bring the kettle, pop on-site, and yes: there's an all-you-can-eat kettle corn option for a set fee. It is exactly as dangerous as it sounds.

Weekends are booked fast. That's not a scare tactic. OK, it's a little bit of a scare tactic. But they are.

FAQ

Everything people ask us at the tent, answered.

Who is Kernel Dan?

Kernel Dan's real name is Jeff. 🤯 After working for the previous owner (the original Dan) for a few years, Jeff bought the business 13 years ago and kept the classic Kernel Dan name. While making Chicago's best tasting kettle corn wasn't necessarily his childhood dream, owning a small business definitely was. And honestly, could you imagine this guy in an office setting? 😬 Jeff (aka Dan 😆) and his crew pride themselves on creating a family friendly, fun vibe wherever they pop up.

The moment the aroma of freshly popped kettle corn draws you in, you'll hear them too! Laughing, telling dad jokes, and listening to groovy tunes. It's all part of the package.

What is Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn?

Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn is the perfect combination of sweet-and-salty popcorn, popped fresh at farmers markets and special events all over Chicagoland.

What ingredients are in Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn?

Our kettle corn is made with 100% soy bean oil, corn, sugar, and salt. That is the whole list.

Does Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn contain allergens?

None of our products have nuts, gluten, or dairy. Just corn, sugar, oil, and salt. Our kettle is exclusively used for this classic kettle corn recipe.

Where can I buy Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn?

At farmers markets and special events in the Chicagoland area. You'll find the tent every week at the Lombard, Winfield, La Grange, Wheaton, and Skokie markets (schedule above), and at events in Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Mount Prospect, Chicago, Roselle, Villa Park, Batavia, Lemont, Addison, Hinsdale, Western Springs, DeKalb, and beyond. Questions? Contact the Kernel himself at [email protected] or (630) 808-0431.

How much does a bag cost?

A small bag (8 oz) is $5 and a large bag (16 oz) is $10. The family/party bag is $17, and personal size bags for special orders start at $3.50.

Can I customize a bulk order?

Absolutely! No order is too large or too small. We also offer delivery in the Chicagoland area.

Can I book you for a special event?

Yes! A large part of our business is catering special events. Please call and book early, because weekends are booked fast. We also do catering with all-you-can-eat Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn for a set fee. Contact the Kernel today for a quote.

What makes Kernel Dan's better than other popcorn?

Kernel Dan's Kettle Corn is always cooked fresh the day of the event, in authentic cast iron kettles. It is never too sweet or over salty. Our recipe is next to impossible to reproduce at home, so leave the work to us and enjoy our homemade gourmet kettle corn.
